With Their Bare Hands

When the war has wiped out all the facilities, amenities and medical aid equipment  for Syrian civilians living in the besieged Eastern Ghouta area to use to save people from shelling, to carry the wounded, to dig out bodies from underneath the rubble, to stop a bleeding, what is left is- their own bare hands. Seven years of war have left the Ghouta area beyond recognition, not only the whole face of the area has changed but also the ways in which civilians carry out rescue operations! The rebel-held enclave has been besieged by government forces and cut off from the outside world. This has left rescue volunteers and paramedics no tools to use in order to save civilian victims of bombardment except their own hands. The project documents how the body of rescuers became the sole instrument there is to be used during rescue missions.
